He strives quite successfully to keep it relevant by playing both traditional songs and adding it to more modern African hip hop. Check out the podcast for several beautiful examples. <image:caption>Episode 1 is an interview with Dubai based performer Vijit Malik, an accomplished musician, as well as a lover of the Grateful Dead, Hindustani, and bluegrass music. Vijit talks about his experience growing up in New Delhi, the connections between Indian and some American musics and what it's like to perform in a country where 'popular' music may not be as common as it is in other parts of the world. <image:title>Common Chords Prague 2024 - Handblown Glass Roosters</image:title>
<image:caption>Handmade in the historic village of Železný Brod, known for generations of glassblowers, these one-of-a-kind glass roosters were originally gifted to the band as a token of appreciation during a cultural diplomacy mission in the Czech Republic. All proceeds support the Common Chords cross-cultural education program and forthcoming documentary. Held November 2024 in Czechia, the inaugural Common Chords is dedicated to teaching the country’s historically strong ties to bluegrass music.</image:caption>
